How can Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Help?

Our therapists specialize in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction and we work to educate patients on lifestyle changes that can decrease symptoms. We teach patients how to properly perform Kegel exercises. We use biofeedback for the pelvic floor musculature to re-educate and strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor to help support the prolapsed organ. We teach proper posture and body mechanics with lifting and other daily activities to reduce the strain on the pelvic organs. We also work to identify other strength deficits of the lumbopelvic region and lower extremities that may be contributing factors. Once these deficits are identified, patients may be progressed to one on one sessions with our pelvic floor Pilates trained instructors. These interventions help to reduce pain or physical discomfort with daily activities, decrease incontinence, and reduce pain with intercourse. To ensure the best possible results, the therapists at Sarton Physical Therapy always spend an hour with each patient during every appointment.
